a little red top and eggplant boots

Do you have a few colors that never ever make it into your closet? For me, it's pastels and shades of red and blue that don't strike my fancy. However, one can only wear so much black, grey, white, and navy. Depressing and dark is not the look I'm going for.

So, with color on my mind, I came across this silk Liz Claiborne top hidden in the $3 top rack. The neckline pleats and material were calling my name, despite the arrogant shade of red. A few minutes later, I discovered a pair of eggplant/purple-ish leather boots that just happened to be my size (LOVE when that happens). A recent fashion blogger had done a great post on the combination of red and plum, and I was willing to give these two foreign colors a try.

Top: Liz Claiborne (second hand), $3. Skirt: H&M. Boots: no brand (second hand), $15. Bag: Coach (second hand), $20.

In this shot you can kind of see the horizontal pleats. Small detail, but makes the shirt a lot more interesting!

These boots had no tag or mark in them, but the inside is a soft leather that looks pretty worn. Overall they were in great condition, and I definitely enjoy a flat boot that is both practical and trendy. And that just about wraps up my trip to the St. Alban's Opportunity Shop. Wednesday's post shows the last item of my purchases, which means... time for round two. You all better save some good stuff for me!
